A Trip to the Northernmost Philippines – Ilocos

With so much excitement, I’ll be travelling to the northernmost province of the philippine island – Ilocos!

It was almost five years ago, summer of 2012 when we had a company outing in Ilocos Norte and Ilocos Sur.

The experience was so amazing that I can’t stop myself from creating this blog. Up to this time, the province is still one of the country’s top tourist destination. With its natural wonders and rich history, no wonder.

From Metro Manila, we hired a bus for the entire trip. From Metro Manila, the travel time via bus is around 10 hours. We depart at around 8pm and reached on our first stop at around 6am in a century-old Paoay Church.

Paoay Church

We woke with a beautiful weather and scenery.

Then we had a stop-over again on a fast -food chain in Vigan, Ilocos Sur for breakfast. Then we head north with side trips on the following:

Kapurpurawan Rock Formation
Cape Bojeador Landmark

We had a lunch in a native restaurant in Bangui just few steps away from the windmills.

Then we went ahead to the northernmost beach barangay Pagudpud, Ilocos Norte where we will stay overnight.

Pagudpud Beach

Wow! Your only expression when you see this pristine white beach in Pagudpud. We arrived at around 4pm on the resort.
We had beach bumming and drinks that night after a delicious dinner buffet featuring native Ilocano food.
After that beach bumming, on day two just after lunch, we depart from Pagudpud and head south. We had side trip on the following:

Presidential Center, Batac, Ilocos
Imelda Marcos’ Terno Collection
Baluarte, Vigan

White deer in Baluarte Zoo

Last stop and just right for finale – Vigan Heritage Village in Ilocos Sur.

The historic town of Vigan was inscribed in the World Heritage List in November 1999 because of its outstanding development in architecture, urban planning and landscape design. It is the best preserved example of a planned Spanish colonial town in Asia.

Vigan is the capital of Ilocos Sur where pasalubong centers are. After a few walk on the heritage village, time to buy pasalubong and souvenir items.

Come and discover the beauty of Ilocos! Add this on your bucket list. Enjoy!

Hoping for more travels and crazy adventures. God bless!
